UNEMPLOYED parents, who were blessed with triplets – all boys – at Katima Mulilo Hospital, are appealing to the public to help them with the basics to care for their children.
Mwiza Njubei (29) delivered the bundles of joy on 1 March through cesarean section.
The couple made this call on Monday, while receiving the first donation of starter-pack baby products from Caprivi Cash & Carry’s manager Haytham Ahmed.
The father, Naha Kasela (29), said they are happy about the healthy birth of their sons, but is worried how they will care for them.
“We already have two children we are struggling to feed and clothe. So, now with the birth of the triplets, it will be tougher. I am not only looking for free handouts, I am also willing to work if anyone can offer me a job to care for my family. I would also like to thank Mr Ahmed and his company for their donation,” he said.
Kasela said they have decided to name the boys after the three doctors who were involved in the delivery and care of their sons.
Their names are Dr Manolo Lopez, Dr Conwell Mashinyira and Dr Eric Mufinda.
A registered midwife nurse, Manyando Matemwa, who assisted during the birth of the triplets, said the first triplet weighed 1,5 kilogrammes, the second one weighed 2,8kg, and the third one weighed 2kg.
“There were no complications during the birth for all of them or the mother,” she said.
Ahmed said they decided to donate to these two parents to give back to the community in which they are operating.
He called on other business people to also donate whatever they can to help the triplets.
“We are nothing without the support of the locals, so it is our responsibility to give back whenever we can,” he said.
