In the ebbs and flows of the Namibian arts and entertainment fields, it’s always nice to pop some champagne and clink glasses in celebration of those who are thriving within it and rising to greater heights. We’ve been keeping our ears to the ground for all these happenings and thought we should shed some light on a few cool things our media colleagues are experiencing.

Not too long ago, the 18-year-old Maria Edward found herself unexpectedly in the limelight after a video of her singing and dancing in a car went viral on social media. Unfortunately, this newfound fame came at a cost, as the college where she was studying nursing expelled her, citing her actions as tarnishing the institution’s image. Maria has become an overnight celebrity, she’s hosted events and has modelled for top Namibian designer Ruberto Scholtz (who recently bagged a best-dressed award at the Durban July). While she may not be on her original path, this story is a testament that life is full of surprises.

As these individuals continue to make their mark in their respective fields, they represent the vibrant and dynamic cultural tapestry of Namibia’s entertainment world and show how sometimes it’s nice to see cool people doing cool things.
