The Landless People’s Movement (LPM) has expelled Paul Thomas, the party’s administrative assistant to its members of parliament.
Thomas, who is a founding member of the party, was expelled on Wednesday this week.
No reason was given in the expulsion letter, signed by the party’s operative secretary, David Eigub, except for a reference to an article in the party’s constitution.
The letter states that Thomas’ actions and conduct were diametrically opposed to the core values and principles that the party stands for.
Thomas has confirmed his expulsion, and says it is against the party’s constitution.
“It’s also a way to make sure that they are not challenged at the people’s assembly this year. I was not given the opportunity to state my case,” he said on Friday.
The LPM has expelled several of its founding members this year, including Keetmanshoop Rural constituency regional councillor Gerrit Witbooi and Keetmanshoop deputy mayor Charlcyta Cooper.
Cooper has resigned from the LPM and rejoined Swapo.
