President Hage Geingob on Wednesday took issue with the world’s eagerness to assist in solving European conflicts, even involving sporting matters, while there’s a lack of international political will to address crisis areas like the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
Geingob was responding to the United Nations special envoy head for the Great Lakes region, Huang Xia, in Windhoek. Geingob, the chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, said it is time the DRC matter gets international attention because lives were being lost. In the most recent report, about 30 civilians have been killed as suspected armed groups raided DRC villages.
The conflict has been raging since December 2017 when civilian attacks became more frequent.
