NATIONAL goalkeepers DJ Strauss and Petro Stoffberg won DTS hockey club’s sportsman and women of the year awards at their prizegiving function last weekend.
Strauss is the current captain of the Namibian men’s team that recently lost 3-1 to South Africa in an indoor series in Windhoek, while they are also preparing for the 2023 Indoor World Cup in Pretoria, South Africa.
Stoffberg is a key member of the Namibian women’s indoor team that is the current African champions while they also beat South Africa 2-1 in the recent indoor series.
DTS’s women’s team had a very successful year after winning both the Bank Windhoek Indoor and Outdoor Hockey league titles.
The men’s however struggled, finishing fourth in both the indoor and outdoor leagues.

U10 Development players of the year: Wiehann Pieterse and Cornell Dreyer.
U12 Development players of the year: Marzel Boshoff and Pieter Boshoff.
U14 Development player of the year: Marlene Coetzee and Enzo Martins.
U16 Development player of the year: Gihan Voight and Kerrin Gillies.
Most practises attended: Daan Janse van Rensburg and Mouesanao Kandjoze.
